Soroptimist of Moses Lake Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Committee raises community awareness of issues and risks facing women, children and men in our community.
The Othello Police Department Detectives from the Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force spoke with SIML. They revealed the heinous acts about human sex trafficking and provided insight on how prevalent it is in our region. Members of our DV and Human Trafficking Committee were eager to donate $1000 to the OPD to assist victims of child exploitation and human sex trafficking.
In 2024 the DV committee helped foster the ability to donate directly to the OPD task force. After months of persistence, our mission is realized. Private and nonprofit organizations can donate to the Othello Police Department, the Moses Lake Police Department and the East Wenatchee Police Department using https://bluebridgealliance.org/. This link allows the ability to make dollar for dollar donations without a fee. All funds can be used by the respective task forces and departments as deemed appropriate.
SIML can donate to these worthy causes because of donations from our community. SIML appreciates your continued support of our nonprofit service group, so we can continue our mission to serve and do best for the women and children in our community.
We support our community programs directly by volunteering hours along with monetary assistance to New Hope/Kids Hope. We have helped support their clothing closet by donating hours of organization, supplies and hands on physical labor. At Christmas, we fulfill family wish lists of essential items and gifts they would not otherwise afford. Among the gifts this year, we provided an oven/range to cook meals for a family of five.
