We are proud to introduce our newest program: Impact.
The mission of Soroptimist of Moses Lake has always been to uplift women and children in our community, with a special focus on their education. When our SIML members learned about period poverty—the struggle many young girls face in accessing menstrual products and the negative effect it has it has on their confidence and school attendance—we knew we had to take action!
Inspired by the cause, our club launched Impact., a program designed to support students in Moses Lake schools by addressing period poverty. Through research and close partnerships with school nurses, counselors, and teachers, we identified key needs—feminine hygiene products, fresh underwear, leggings, and changes of clothes—to help girls feel secure and ready to learn. From early conversations with school district employees, the response to our idea was overwhelmingly positive! We received immediate requests from Frontier Middle School, Endeavor Middle School, and Midway Elementary, allowing us to serve three schools even before the official committee was formed! Starting in our Moses Lake high schools, middle schools and select elementary schools, Impact. is already providing these essentials to ensure no girl misses out on her education due to her period.
The vision of Impact. is to empower girls one cycle at a time! Together, we can make a lasting difference—one student, one school, one community at a time. Let’s make an Impact. Period.
